Operation Spark is hosting "Decode" – a weekend long hackathon that brings together students and professional software developers to expose New Orleans youth to project management, coding, and design thinking. The goal of the weekend is to create a space for students to meet and work with specialists to problem solve around issues relevant to their communities in addition to providing students and guests an opportunity to experience the power of social coding.

Beginning Friday, March 17, teams of students and professionals will work together to develop a mobile application that helps solve an issue related to employment or obtaining job training skills and experience. Teams will develop their mobile apps on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19, and will present their projects to a panel of judges Monday, March 20 at 1:00 pm.

We hope to demonstrate how designers and engineers can come together with students to work on projects that positively impact their communities through software prototyping.
