Chris Reade started programming computers in 1984 at the age of 13 and has been building software ever since. He started his first tech company in Manhattan in 1995. In 2000, he moved the growing company to New Orleans, attracted by the legendary culture and the arbitrage opportunities that cost of living differentials created between the East and West coast IT-centric cities and Greater New Orleans.
His latest venture, LookFar, focuses on Idea Acceleration to help startup tech companies grow. The company achieved Inc. 5000 status in 2015 and was named the City Businesses 2015 Best Place to Work for companies with under 100 staff and was on the list again in 2016. The company made it onto the Nola 100 in 2016 and was a 2016 recipient of the Downtown Development District’s Downtown NOLA award.
Chris is an angel investor in technology businesses and is the senior technical advisor of several start-ups and a frequent speaker on topics such as technology and disaster recovery. He has judged many start-up and business plan competitions including Start-up weekend, the TechCrunch Pitch and Tulane’s Business Model competition. Chris is a past president of Entrepreneur’s Organization of Louisiana, a member of the state’s Innovation Council, a past president of the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans, a board member of the GNO Inc, the Arts Council and the Metropolitan Crime Commission. He is also an advisor to Nola Tech Week as well as New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, of which LookFar is a major sponsor.
