After graduating from art school, Joel spent about 10 minutes as a starving artist before the business world found him. He began his career at St. Blues Guitar Co. There, he applied his creative skills to developing marketing plans that were instrumental in growing the global footprint for the company by expanding the product offerings to both South America and Europe.
Joel then became the Marketing Director for Prudential Douglas Elliman, the largest residential real estate firm in the New York City area. While at Prudential Douglas Elliman, he was responsible for over $500M in properties and set new standards in market reach by using emerging technologies to attract investors during the height of the recession and subsequent housing crash.
Joel then joined the research and consultation group, Just Kid Inc., in Darien, CT. There, he developed strategic, qualitative and quantitative marketing plans for clients including Kraft and Nestle.
In 2012, Joel started Loaded for Bear, a full-service brand development firm, with his business partner Michael Carpenter. Since 2012, the firm has landed clients all over the world, including a recent expansion to France, where it helps European companies develop brands for the U.S. market.
