A New Orleans native and creative entrepreneur, Stirling Barrett is passionately invested in spreading the culture of the city through his photography and design work. A longtime vintage eyewear enthusiast, he launched KREWE in 2013 after seeing an opportunity to positively impact the cultural perception of New Orleans through a creative approach to business and design.
With a longtime arts background, Stirling continued to nurture his design skills after graduating from the Meadows School of Art at SMU. Before launching KREWE in 2013, Barrett focused on his photography work, which depicts the indigenous culture of New Orleans and showcases the unique architecture and diversity of the city. The pieces feature collages with small sections of subject matter coming together into a final composition. Stirling’s photography, with its focus on complex compositions, line and perspective, translate naturally to his KREWE design sensibility. In addition to having been a prominent New Orleans artist, Stirling now leads KREWE’s team of over 30 full-time employees. The brand is now one of the fastest growing, independent eyewear companies in the US, achieving more than 200% year-over-year growth.
Every pair of KREWE eyewear is hand designed by Stirling in the company's New Orleans Design Studio. KREWE has been featured in national publications such as VOGUE, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Women's Wear Daily, W Magazine, Architectural Digest, SURFACE and many more. The brand has also garnered significant celebrity traction with talents such as Beyoncé, Reese Witherspoon, Gigi Hadid, Kate Hudson, Selena Gomez, Elle Fanning and Kendall Jenner. KREWE is carried in the brand’s flagship store in the heart of the French Quarter as well as in premier national and international retailers including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Moda Operandi, and Club Monaco.
