Kulisha offers a wastewater treatment solution for food and beverage companies that converts their organic waste products into a sustainable insect protein for use in animal feeds.
We work with food and beverage wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to integrate black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) into their operations as opposed to using traditional, expensive disposal methods. In the process, we produce a high-value protein from the insects themselves that metabolize the wastewater residue. The BSFL are sold to feed millers for use in animal feeds, providing a sustainable, high-quality alternative to fishmeal. This simultaneously addresses a second major problem: the demand for fishmeal in animal feeds that is driving the destruction of the world’s oceans.
In the past year, Kulisha has established two research facilities, has formed major partnerships with organizations around the world (both research-based and commercial), and has been awarded $200,000 in non-dilutive funding from various competitions.
